Barry M Bright Purple

Pop quiz my pretties: what's my favourite colour? If you've been following me for a while you've probably figured out that I LOVE purple. And look at this:

Love it! (Although the colour is actually deeper purple and not as pink as it appears in the picture.) Having professed my love for it I would have to add that quite a few of the polish brands have a variation on this colour at the moment so I wouldn't say it's anything particularly special in that respect. But Bright Purple has a beautiful depth of colour which I'm loving and which you can't really see in this photo. Application wise this was three coats. It was opaque in two but there was some dragging that meant it needed three for a nice smooth finish.

If you're lucky enough to live in England (where you can find Barry M in stores rather than having to pay international freight on their products) and you're looking for a bright purple then this would be a good buy.

Barry M Pure Turquoise

I've just realised that my 'To Blog' folder is full to the brim with swatch photos waiting to be blogged about. Which is nice, because it means I have a backup in between stalking the postman.

Today's swatch is a favourite that I mentioned the first time I posted about Barry M. Back then my nails were horribly short and there was no way I was putting pictures of them on the internet so you were deprived of a swatch. But my nails are looking fairly acceptable these days, so here it is in all it's glory - Barry M Pure Turquoise:

This one definitely goes in my top 10. It's so deliciously bright and cheerful, and totally reminds me of the Twitter logo:

See?

I think this was the first Barry M colour I tried, and it set the standard. Great application (two coats), lovely glossy creme finish and great wear. Combine that with the stunning colour and this one becomes a classic.

a polish from England - Barry M Grey

I already had several Barry M polishes in my stash prior to our trip to England, and of course I added to their number. Barry M almost never disappoint me with their application, and the creatively named 'Grey' is no exception.

(I've a feeling they don't pay their polish naming person enough!)

Grey leans slightly warmer in real life than the pictures show, and to my eye would be wearable on most skin tones. I'm a huge fan of grey nail polish and this one makes my heart go pitter patter.

Application-wise the only way this polish could have been more perfect was if it went on in one coat. This is two coats of smooth, buttery, creme goodness. Barry M have yet again knocked it out of the park for me.

Barry M Dusky Mauve

Good heavens to Murgatroyd!
What a polish!
A Very easy to apply. Goes exactly where you put it. And if I were better at putting it places it would look pretty well perfect.
B It needs light to reveal its secret. In the dim October daylight it could be vaguely, anonymously brown. With flash it's like this...... (See below).

I was very surprised when I looked at my pix to see the shimmer. This is the semi-dupe of Chanel Paradoxal. Now, I've a Chanel watch but I won't part with the pennies for a Chanel polish (a matter of priorities) so this is as close as I'm getting to Paradoxal which, in any case, isn't that special.

I recommend this polish as I reckon it would suit everyone. And it's relatively cheap.

Save or splurge? What are you prepared to spend real money on and what are you happy to compromise on?
